Active crawls and recently completed crawls
• Review to confirm that the crawls are running as scheduled.
• Issue – Incremental Crawl is currently scheduled to run every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day. We reviewed the actual incremental crawl times and those occasionally exceed 10 minutes.
Recommendation - Change incremental crawl to every 30 minutes, beginning at 5am until 8pm.
• Issue – 1 error “The item may be too large or corrupt”. This is for a Visio diagram and may be larger than the default 20MB size limit set for search crawl.
Recommendation - Notify the client to determine whether they want this size limit increased.

Computer Drives
• Issue - OS Drive (C:) is only 30GB with only 3GB free.
Recommendation to Client – Drive size should be increased within the next 90 days or if the paging file is moved off the C: drive, then this could wait 6 months but it eventually needs to be resolved.
• Issue – F: Drive (contains index files) is only 134GB with 112GB free.
Recommendation to Client –Increase storage on F: drive of BLPRDSHPIDX01 to at 400GB minimum (800GB recommended for growth beyond 1TB).
Services
To answer the question below, although the F: drive on Index Server BLPRDSHPIDX01 has 90% free space today, we are requesting the drive to be increased to 400GB minimum because of the projected growth in the very near future (< 30 days). This volume will hold SharePoint index files. As SharePoint crawls content, the Index will consume approximately 30% of the actual data crawled. The file shares being migrated to SharePoint are roughly 1.5TB, so 400GB is an absolute minimum, but it would be ideal to increase this volume to 800GB to allow for 50% growth, otherwise we will need to ask Terremark to expand the drive again.
System Settings
• Issue – Half of the 8GB of memory (RAM) available is being used up by a monitoring tool, NQPerfProvider4.exe.
Recommendation to Client – Restart NetIQ Services to see if memory is freed up from a potential memory leak. If issue re-occurs during next health check, we will advise that NetIQ Services be removed or upgrade since they are negatively impacting SharePoint performance by consuming 50% of memory.
• Issue – Virtual Memory page file is split between the C: and E: drives.
Recommendation to Client – Because the C: drive is nearly full, we recommend moving the page file off the C: drive.
• Observation – Windows Updates are off.
Note – This may not be an issue if other 3rd party update tools are used to keep the server patched.

SQL Server
• Issue – Although we may have been granted read-only access to the SQL server, the laptops that were provided to us by Broadlane do not contain the SQL Server Management Tools, therefore we cannot perform a health check of the SharePoint SQL components.
Request to Client –Install SQL Management Studio on laptops
